Rob Durnin is a composer/performer and sound artist based in Copenhagen,
and member of the contemporary music ensemble K!ART.
ABOUT
Rob Durnin (1997) is a composer, sound artist and performer from the UK. Living and working in
Denmark, Rob's output spans from chamber music, to multidisciplinary works, installations,
performance art and ambisonic compositions. In his practice, he often fixates on the
characteristics and architectures of technologies, as well as the manner of our interactions
with them. He also investigates the role of its intervention in the creative process and often works
within the programming language LISP.
Rob studied the Bachelor (2019), Master (2021) and Advanced Postgraduate Diploma (soloist; 2023)
degrees in composition at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen.
He has previously written for: the Curious Chamber Players, the DR Vocal Ensemble, Ensemble
Recherche, NEKO3, Figura Ensemble, K!ART, Esbjerg Ensemble, the Arctic Sinfonietta, members
of the Aurora Orchestra and members of the BBC Symphony Orchestra; works have been
performed at festivals including MINU festival for expanded music (2023), Ung Nordisk Musik
(2021, 2022, 2023), Uuden Musiikin Lokakuu (2021), Njord Festival (2020) and the BBC Proms (2015).
